see when we where married we got a truck together. in both of our names. but when we sepperated he took the truck. about a year later it got repoed bc he did not pay for it. well there was still about $3000.00 left to pay on it after the dealers sold it. Well the judge ordered my x husband to pay it and for me not to be held responsible for anything with that. well it is still showing on my credit and i had to pay it bc i could not sell my land unless it was taken care of bc of the judgement. even though there was papers that my x signed and the judge ordered! now he is saying he does not have to pay me back bc about a year ago me and our little girl moved in with him for about 3 months and did not make me pay rent or electric. and he still gave me my child support check. i know this sounds crazy. and it is alot of info. but i am curious what do yall think. p.s. i have a 11:30 op. tomarrow with my lawyer. bc i think he needs to pay me back.

Give all the information to your lawyer and ask him. That%26#039;s what you%26#039;re paying him for. However, three months rent might be a fair trade depending upon where you are.

At worst he is in contempt of court and owes you the $3000.00 according to the court order. The judge could now order alimony until you are paid back. If you lived with him against your states rules(I think my state is no cohabitation for one year after the divorce) your divorce could be at risk and you may have to do it all over again, or be held in contempt of court. YOu may end up paying a lawyer more than $3,000.00 to recover the money and that money you will never get back. If it looks like it will cost $3,000.00 or more to get the money back than let it go, it%26#039;s a wash. I%26#039;d imagine your lawyer could file the motion to show cause(why he didn%26#039;t pay and got repossessed) which would be cheap and then you could go to court by yourself, tell the story, and let the judge decide if it%26#039;s contempt and if you are getting paid back.

Is he still paying the child support? The same way he was when he supported you after the divorce and you had to move back in with him? I think you should stop and look at it in a moral since, rather than a $ sign, and just forget about it. He could of left you on the street for those 3 months, it was not his obligation to take you in. He makes a good point there, and probably cost him more than what you had to pay for the truck anyway.
