How do you mothers stay organized?

I have a 4 month old son and between paying bills, working full time, taking care of housework, and managing other things, I%26#039;ve found myself being so busy. I totally forgot about my son%26#039;s appointment this morning, even though I%26#039;ve marked it on several calendars. I had an alarm set on my cell phone to remind me, but didn%26#039;t turn it on (of course!). And on top of that, I rescheduled his appointment at the same exact time as my next appt. with my OB. How do you mothers manage to stay organized??? I%26#039;m still as forgetful as when I was pregnant!

Also, daily arguments to have my husband help only add to my stress (I%26#039;ve asked him to pay his credit cards on his own and that only led to late fees) and I%26#039;ve taken to doing things with the occasional help of my family. I guess if you%26#039;re a single mother, your answer might help me best...because I really do feel like a single mother!

Hey, give yourself a break! I%26#039;m sure you are exhausted from having a baby :) It does get better. Make a schedule. On Monday%26#039;s, you don%26#039;t do anything. On Tuesdays, you pay bills online. On Wednesdays, you run errands. Keep this routine for forever. Schedule something everyday or every other day (laundry, linens, grocery shopping, etc.) It works for me. Also, only use one calendar, that way you%26#039;re not overlapping events. And, put all of your belongings in the same place everyday (keys, phone on charger, diaper bag, etc). Assign duties to your husband. Every other night, hand him the baby and bath supplies and give him instructions to bathe the baby. You can also do this w/ feedings :) I give my hub choices as in...you can load the dishwasher or bathe the baby. You can fold the laundry or you can clean up the kitchen. It works for us.

it never is really easy (and i am a single mother)....i feel it easier that i don%26#039;t have to remember my husbands things as well as my daughters and my own.....ask your doctors office for reminder calls if they don%26#039;t....mine does and it really helps....keeping a schedule book in my purse (or diaper bag) helps too....mostly your husband needs to step up and take care of his own things....try seperating everything in his name or yours till he gets the point at least.....most of all he needs to help with the baby and give you a brake so you dont get over stressed if he wont ask family to help (they seem to be more willing)....just one night a week does wonders.....try to do your shopping after work before you pick up your son at daycare or where ever he goes while your at work to minimize stress.....devided the chores with your husband or demand that you get a maid to come in once a week.....

hope that something i said helps and good luck....

I haven%26#039;t been organized since I had my first son. Then 15 months alter I had my second son. I kept thinking that when they got older that I would get better. They are teens now and I can%26#039;t get them or my husband to help without asking or just getting angry. My husbands job is swing and he%26#039;s either working or sleeping, so I am a single Mom. Do yourself a favor and resolve this asap.

God Bless

I have a 6month old and a nine year old, plus two step sons living with us of ages 16 and 18. There%26#039;s stress! Anyways I also work full-time and so does my husband, plus both of us work over and I also teach part-time. Saturday nights are racing nights for my nine and eighteen year old, so I can%26#039;t do much on a Saturday. That%26#039;s busy, and plus I maintain all the finance%26#039;s in the household, grocery shop, laundry, and make sure dinner is on the table every night. When do I have time for myself - never, but I need it. I pick one day out of the week to balance my checkbook and have a note pad listing when all bills are due, at the end of every month I fill in the bills for the next month in the notebook - I managed to get most of my bills due at the end of the month so then I can take a day out of the 1st week and sit down and pay bills- every pay day I look at this note book and see when everything is due- I have gotten to the point that all the due dates are in my head. When it comes to house cleaning and laundry, well my stepsons do their own and I try to do at least two loads a night except for Friday nights that is no laundry night and I don%26#039;t care how much is piled up. Cleaning I basically leave for Sunday cause everyone sleeps in and I get up no later than 8am to start house cleaning, if I don%26#039;t have to work, if I do I try to do some during the work week during the night. I just try to maintain a schedule the best I can. I was a single mother before I met my husband, it just used to be my nine yearold and I and actually it was a lot easier, because there was less bills and less mouths to feed and I just had a two bedroom townhome, not a house like know. It%26#039;s harder know than it was then, but financially it%26#039;s better with two incomes than one. Give him a swift kick in the butt and make a list of chores to do and assign them to individuals in your house hold, and include your husband, I do this as well. It works for me. Good luck! :)

I have a 8 year old son, a 5 year old son, and a 9 month old daughter. I work full time. I%26#039;m married, hubby works full time. We have our own house.

I have found that preparation is the key. The night before set EVERYTHING out that you possibly can. Outfits for the next day for everyone. Pack lunches the night before. Put all the stuff you need to take with you in the morning either in the car the night before or in one pile for you to grab in the morning.

Dinner - make an extra meal on the weekend (casserole or soemthing) for a week night meal. Crockpot meals are awesome too, start it in the morning, finish at night.

Paying bills - I do once a week. Every day, I sort the mail, throw out the junk and put all the bills in one pile. I usually pay them Friday night or Saturday morning - after I get paid.

I keep a calendar on the fridge with everyone%26#039;s schedule. I also have a book at work too, in case I need to make appts from work or whatever.

As far as your hubby goes, you sound just like me and my hubby. You%26#039;re better off just paying ALL the bills yourself. He can give you his money or whatever to pay them. But, if he%26#039;s like my hubby, he%26#039;s not good with finances. I handle it all.

Housework - the kids have their chores each day. I usually do a load of laundry each day. And then Sunday morning - everyone helps clean the entire house.

It%26#039;s stressful, but it%26#039;s working so far for us.

I still feel unorganized at times - even with all my little routines.

It%26#039;s not really organization... it%26#039;s just being able to deal while constantly in a state of choas!

I live by my day planner. It%26#039;s always as close to me as my own head. I also duplicate everything I write in my day planner on a large desk calendar that I have hanging beside my computer desk at home. That way if the unmentionable (I lost my day planner) happened, I%26#039;d still have a clue as to what%26#039;s going on.

It%26#039;ll get better. Life is still pretty stressful when baby is so young.
