I was wondering if anyone here thinks I could get into rice university. Im 15 years old this would be my sophmore year in highschool but I dropped out and am getting my GED in the fall. Meanwhile I am taking college credit courses at a community college and i have a 3.3 gpa there.....keep in mind my age. I am part of the YMCA leaders club (basically a community service thing) and I also work almost full time at the YMCA in the art department, child care, and im a counselor at a program called friday night fun for kids grades kindergarten- 6th. I want to major in political science and Urban Studies. I%26#039;ll also be taking my SATs but I%26#039;m not a great test taker. I%26#039;ll have to apply as a transfer.

Rice university?
With two more years to go, you%26#039;ve still got a chance. If you%26#039;re not caucasian, then your chances go way up. Although at the rate you%26#039;re going right now, a 3.3GPA is not going to get you into Rice no matter what. Everyone I know at Rice has at least a 3.5GPA, unless they%26#039;re atheletes.
Rice university?
Always aim high; but know this - Rice has very high academic standards. It is the top scholastic university in Texas, and one of the best in the entire country. Your outside-of-school activities will be helpful, but you%26#039;ll likely need to increase your GPA and have a great SAT.
Luckily, you still have time to study and prepare for Rice. Good luck!
Rice university?
I think Rice is a stretch for you. It is one of the most selective universities in the South -- and a 3.3 at a community college isn%26#039;t going to impress them.
It is worth trying -- because you have a compelling story that may impress them. Good luck.
