They told me and my husband multiple lies...ran my credit report twice (only authorized for once) and applied us for for a loan without my permission.....trust me we did not buy a car there....and would NEVER...and we are on the NISSAN friends and family program....be forewarned of %26quot;behind the scenes%26quot; there because their motto is %26quot;don%26#039;t let you get out the door without buying a car%26quot;! Downtown Nashville Nissan is about BIG VOLUME car sells and they do NOT care about you!
Has anyone purchased a vehicle from Downton Nashville Nissan? My experience there was truely horrible!?
Dear Kim-
I don%26#039;t live in Nashville but we have a few dealership like that in the Bay Area here in California.
I work at a Chevrolet Dealership here in this area in the Parts Department. Our Dealership used to pay their sales staff on commission, and I can tell you from experience that is what drives those jerks to be that way. The moment our Owner changed the policy about how our sales staff would gain commission, but they were guaranteed a set salary all of that behavior disappeared. It has definately made a change for the better.
They will cut their own throat with that type of behavior from the sales staff. You and your husband have probably already decided that after you have your car purchased you are going to have it serviced at another dealership right?? Well that is what will kill that dealership. The more people they upset, the more likely the other dealership will get all of the service work, warranty work and customer pay work like oil changes and general maintenance.
What I can tell you is this. From now on when you purchase a car go to the corporate website and build the car using their system with thier pricing. Then print out the complete car the way you want it outfitted. When you walk into the dealership, they either meet the internet quote or beat it. If they can%26#039;t or won%26#039;t then just pick up and leave. Don%26#039;t even hesitate to do it.
When they start to pull that %26quot;Old School%26quot; arm twisting crap, just take your things and leave. I have no problems leaving them cold. Just be sure that you don%26#039;t hand them things like your driver%26#039;s license, because that is how they often hold people hostage.
We had a similar experience with a Hyundai Dealer here. When they held my license to make my stay, I walked right into their finace office and jerked it out of the manager%26#039;s fingers and walked out the door. They chased me all the way to my car trying to get me back into the building. When my wife pulled a ball bat out of the back seat, the story changed and they suddenly decided that broken knee caps might not be in their best interest.
We had just come from a Little League Game and all of the Club Equipment was in there. Needless to say we still laugh about it to this very day.
Don%26#039;t hesitate to write a letter to the corporate office of Nissan Motor America and let them have a piece of your mind. Tell them that because of their behavior your next car will not be a Nissan, and that you intend to write your local newspaper about the event.
Filing complaints with t your Local Chamber of Commerce, Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau, then forwarding these letters to Nissan will also get your point across that some changes need to be made.
Enough complaints and Nissan will pull the Franchise License from them to sell their product. That happened to a Honda Dealership here. Honda pulled the Franchise License and the Dealership went out of business.
The auto manufacturers do not like that type of business because it hurts their image and customer relations. This is one reason why GM no longer practices that type of sales. Toyota is now doing the same thing with thier Scion Car line, which I now own two of them.
I know this was a little long winded, but at least I hope I gave you a few ideas about how you folks can deal with it.
Good Luck!

Call the Manager and tell him what happened. If no one complains they will not do anything. I too cannot believe that any Manager really wants his people to so turn off customers they do not buy his products! Call him and then call the Better Business Bureau and file a report.
